At the Pregnancy Help Center, we believe the more you know, the better decisions you can make. We want you to be confident as you take the next steps in your pregnancy or health journey. Take advantage of our free educational opportunities.

What Types of Education Does the PHC Offer?

We have something for men and women of all ages. Here is a list of a few of our offerings:

Earn While You Learn (EWYL)

This free program provides a support system to parents. When you become an active client of the center, you can attend one-on-one classes while earning points along the way. You use these points to “purchase” baby items such as diapers, wipes, formula, clothing, etc.

Our EWYL classes provide excellent childcare and pregnancy wellness information while giving our clients access to many beneficial resources.

Fatherhood Classes

This excellent male mentoring program aims to educate and encourage men to raise strong families and be healthy father figures. Male facilitators lead the program and cover various topics focusing on developing men as fathers and husbands.

Our male facilitators assist fathers in developing confidence in their ability to meet the challenges they may face in their family and future. Our course curriculum (using DVDs, sound teaching, and good conversation) aids in understanding and enhancing parenting skills and developing healthy personal relationships. The lessons are intended to help meet each man’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in the group.

This class is part of the center’s Earn While You Learn program. As an active client, you will earn access to a large variety of material aid such as diapers and wipes, formula, and baby clothing—all free of charge.

Sexual Risk Avoidance

This unique school program is offered to all Darke County districts, reaching approximately 500 area high school students annually. The districts of Ansonia, Arcanum, Greenville, Mississinawa, and Tri-Village currently have the program presented to either their freshman or sophomore classes.

The program presented by our trained SRA volunteers is called I Decide for Me. It aims to make each student aware of their true value and worth, the benefits of abstinence, and the risks of being sexually active before marriage.

The presentation is focused on abstinence but also emphasizes making healthy choices. Topics such as drugs, alcohol, pornography use, and sharing of inappropriate content via social media are also discussed. The students are given tools and information to assist them in making healthy choices for themselves and their future spouses.

Natural Family Planning

Some use Natural Family Planning (NFP) to figure out the best way to conceive, while others may use it to avoid pregnancy. Also known as the Fertility Awareness Method, it strengthens families by helping couples understand and appreciate God’s gifts of love, life, fertility, and sexuality. When implemented, NFP offers the following:

  • No harmful side effects
  • Highly effective for avoiding or achieving pregnancy
  • Low cost
  • Marriage enrichment and mutual understanding
  • Morally acceptable by all religious faiths
  • Self-understanding
  • Appreciation of fertility and children
  • Fosters respect for and acceptance of the total person
